Gear
Your inventory, what is booked where, and the asset tags on every piece, from a computer or a phone.
One row per model.
Each model or variant is its own item, with its own value, day rate and receipt. A quantity above one is for identical units.
- A lens set stays one item, with a tag on each lens.
- Import and export the inventory as a CSV, and share a catalog.
- Every save is checked against the copy it was made on. If someone else saved first, nothing is written over them: you see theirs, and are told.
- A save that can't go through is kept and said, with Save now and Discard. It never looks saved when it isn't.
See what is out, and price it the same way each time.
Book gear to a production from its Gear tab. The calendar shows each piece across the days it is out.
- A production's booking is the production's, and deleting a production releases its gear first.
- Rates and kits live on the Rates tab; a kit line points at the item itself, so it follows the item.
- On a phone, a production's Gear tab keeps its computer layout, with a note that bigger changes are easier on a laptop.
Let the DP pick from what you own.
Send a gear list link. A director of photography, a key grip or a client picks how many of each they want, adds what to rent, and sends it back.
- No account, no app: it opens from the link on a phone.
- It carries no rates, values or tag numbers. Just what you have and how many.
- Their reply comes back to the production, and a newer reply never hides behind an older one.
Scan a tag, and the phone knows the piece.
Put a QR asset tag on a piece and its address opens that piece in Gear. A tag that is on nothing yet opens a screen to assign it.
- One tap puts the tag on a piece, and Undo takes exactly that tag off again.
- Tagging a run of the same thing? “Same as the last one” is one tap for a counted item.
- Before it saves, it reads the inventory fresh, so one tag never lands on two pieces.
- No signal? It says the tag can't be checked right now, keeps the number on screen, and saves nothing.
Your first inventory
- Add or import your gear. One row per model; a set with a tag per lens stays one item.
- Set rates and kits on the Rates tab.
- Book it. Open a production's Gear tab and pick what goes out.
- Send a gear list to the DP when you want their picks.
- Tag it. Scan each new tag on a phone and put it on its piece.
Worth knowing
Find by tag
A scanned tag opens the piece it is on, for anyone on your team who can see gear.
Signed out?
A scanned tag offers sign-in on the Gear page and comes back to the same tag.
Never overwritten
Two people saving the same item: the second is told, not written over.
CSV in and out
Bring your list in, or take it out, as a spreadsheet.
Common questions
Do people need an account to reply to a gear list?
No. They open the link, pick quantities, add rentals and send.
What does a gear list show?
What you own and how many of each, grouped by kind. Not your rates, values or tag numbers.
What happens if two of us edit the same item?
The second save finds the item changed, writes nothing, shows the saved copy and says so. A save that keeps failing is kept on screen with Save now and Discard.
Can one tag go on two things?
No. Before a tag is saved the inventory is read fresh from the server. A tag that is already on a piece opens that piece instead of the assign screen.
